Kimberly Moore Dow - Artistic Director (dancer/choreographer) started dancing at age four and hasn't stopped since. First trained in Cechetti
ballet and pointe in Damascus, MD, Kim didn't discover her love of modern
dance until attending college. She graduated summa cum laude from
Salisbury State University with a B.A. in Art/Graphic Design and a minor
in Dance. She danced in the SSU Dance Company throughout college, under
the direction of Victoria Hutchinson, where she choreographed for the
student showcase and served on the executive board. While at Salisbury,
Kim was awarded the National Outstanding Dance Minor by the National Dance
Association, and a Student Leadership Award for her contribution to the
SSU Dance Company. She was a ballet and pointe teacher in Salisbury, MD,
as well as a performer at ACDFA (American College Dance Festival). Prior
to becoming artistic director of EDC, Kim performed and choreographed with
TAWA Dance Company, under the direction of Mary Tawa. She currently works
at LTD Creative, in downtown Frederick, as a graphic designer.

Pat Burns - President (dancer/choreographer) is proud to be one of the founding members of Equinox, and looks forward to her fifth year with the company. Prior to dancing with Equinox, Pat danced for five years with Tawa Dance Company. Pat enjoys dancing and choreographing as a form of artistic expression, exercise, and fun. Pat grew up in New Jersey where she received most of her dance training. She also studied for a short while in California, and then in Maryland at the Artistic Dance Center. Pat works in the Frederick area as a certified Personal Trainer, and as a state and nationally certified massage therapist. Pat loves dancing and performing with Equinox. | |
Emily Bonham Owen - Treasurer (dancer) is excited to be dancing for her fourth year with Equinox. She joined the executive board in 2004, and also manages the company website. Emily began studying dance at age eight. She studied ballet, pointe, jazz, and tap with The Upper Montgomery Ballet School, in Damascus, MD, and assisted the school director as a student instructor. As a student at The College of William & Mary, Emily expanded her dance repertoire, studying a variety of modern dance techniques, and Alexander Technique. She performed in the annual dance concerts at William & Mary, and competed as a member of the Ballroom Dance Team, in addition to serving as President of the Ballroom Dance Club. Emily graduated with honors in May of 2001, earning her bachelors degree in Psychology and Spanish. Emily recently completed her masters in Human Sciences at Hood College, and is currently working as an Academic Advisor at Howard Community College in Columbia. |
Kady Davis - Secretary (dancer) is dancing for her second year with the Equinox Dance Company. She began dancing at the age of three and was trained in Cechetti ballet and pointe at The Upper Montgomery School of Ballet in Damascus, MD. After a nine-year hiatus from dancing, Kady is excited to make a return to the artform. She looks forward to the challenge of changing her focus from ballet to modern dance and is very grateful for the opportunity that Equinox has provided her. A graduate of St. Mary's College of Maryland, Kady currently works as an Interest Rate Risk Analyst for Mercantile Bankshares Corporation. |
Dancers
Deanna Buckner (dancer) is pleased to be performing for her fourth year with Equinox. She has been dancing on and off for the past 15 years and has enjoyed experimenting with jazz, ballet, tap, and modern forms of dancing, hip-hop being her favorite. Deanna was a professional cheerleader for the PW Cannons and coached two high school dance teams before venturing off to college, where she earned her Bachelor of Architecture degree from Virginia Tech. Deanna currently works as an architect for SmithGroup located in Washington, DC. In her spare time, Deanna studies dance at Joy of Motion under the direction of Maurice Johnson, Aysha Upchurch and Helen Hayes. |
Kristine (Churilla) Genovese (dancer/choreographer) is thrilled to be with EDC for a fourth year. Kristine discovered her love for the arts at a young age while studying ballet and modern at Jane Bittner's Dance Center in Olney and performing musical theatre productions with the "Sandy Spring Players." She has wonderful memories of spending her elementary through high school years in evening dance classes and theatre rehearsals. Kristine received an A.A. from Montgomery College where she danced and choreographed for the MC Dance Company while studying under the direction of Gail Minor-Smith. She earned a BFA in Dance Performance & Education from Towson University, where she danced with the TU Dance Company under the direction of Dennis Price. Kristine has taught dance, drama, and choreographed for various schools in Maryland. Along with EDC, she is currently dancing with Kinor Dance Company in Bethesda under the direction of Barbara Supovitz and teaching jazz and modern at the YMCA in Frederick. Kristine is also a stay-at-home mom and lives with her husband and two adorable children.

Katherine Cooney (dancer) is ecstatic to join EDC this season. Kate began her formal dance training at age three, learning the Royal Academy of Dance ballet syllabus from Eileen Razzetti in Severna Park, MD. She continued studying ballet at the Peabody Institute, Ballet Theatre of Annapolis, Washington Ballet, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, and Maryland Youth Ballet. From 1995-2001 she had the opportunity to dance professionally with the Ballet Theatre of Maryland (formerly Ballet Theatre of Annapolis) under the artistic direction of Edward Stewart. Kate attended the University of Maryland as a Maryland Distinguished Scholar for Talent in the Arts and graduated magna cum laude in May 2001 with a B.S. in Environmental Science and Policy. She married her amazing husband Will in October 2002 and moved to Frederick, where she began teaching fitness classes and practicing yoga while completing an M.S. from the University of Maryland and working in science. Since April 2006 Kate has been a stay-at-home mom for her precious son Liam. Kate thanks her family for always being there to watch her dance on and off the stage and EDC for the privilege to experience and perform new forms of dance with such a wonderful group of people.

Jenny Lynch (dancer) is one of the founders of Equinox Dance Company, and is excited to be performing with the group for the fourth year. She began dancing when she was three years old at a small studio in Damascus, Maryland learning the basics in tap, ballet and jazz. Over the years she has explored many genres of dance including tap, ballet, pointe, jazz, Ukranian folk, hip-hop, and modern dance. Jenny attended Franklin and Marshall College earning a B.A. in Biology and a minor in dance. During her freshman year, she joined the F&M Dance Company and was an active member throughout her college years. During this time Jenny was introduced to modern dance and it undoubtedly became her favorite style. She also participated in ACDFA (American College Dance Festival) at SUNY Brockport and assisted Lynn Matluck Brooks in the choreographic process of Outside Edge. Following college Jenny performed with TAWA Dance Company for two years under the direction of Mary Tawa. Currently, she works in Frederick as a veterinary technician | |

Stephanie Peters (dancer) began dancing at Bettie Jane's Center of Dance Art at the age of 8. She continued dancing while attending college at Salisbury State University, eventually serving as vice president of the university's dance company. After a year's hiatus, Stephanie returns to Equinox this season for her third year with the company. She will earn her Master of Science degree in Environmental Policy from Johns Hopkins University in the spring of 2007. In her spare time, Stephanie is a pirate. She is licensed by the International Organization for Excellence in Piracy, and is frequently accompanied to her sackings and pillagings by her pet parrot, Kristie.

![]() Rebecca Rolnick (dancer/choreographer) is dancing for her second year with the Equinox Dance Company. She took dance and gymnastics as a young girl, giving both up to concentrate on violin. In high school she returned to dance. She attended Franklin and Marshall College where she was a Government-History major with a minor in dance. She was active in the F&M dance company as both a dancer and choreographer. After graduating she took several years off from dance to obtain her J.D. from Pepperdine University. She is licensed to practice in CA and is pending in DC. She recently completed her LLM at George Washington University Law School and is working as an attorney in Virginia. |
