01.09.11: EDC is Proud to Announce: The Sandman and the Sand Witch
This wonderful children's story, written by Maryland author Ellen Cook Nibali, reveals what can happen inside a sand castle at night. Prancing sandpipers, tap dancing clams and, of course, the Great Blue Crab join the Sandman and the Sand Witch in this adventure. Performance on Saturday February 26, 2011 at 1pm and 4pm. Directed by Andie Ligon and including choreography by local artists and many special guest performers.

12.23.09: Equinox Awarded MSAC grant
EDC was recently awarded a 2010 Arts in Communities Grant from the Maryland State Arts Council! We would like to thank the both the Frederick Arts Council and the Maryland State Arts Council for their continued support through grant monies.

11.01.09: EDC Invited to Perform at the National Theater
EDC will perform free performances in the Helen Hayes Gallery of the National Theater on Monday, February 8. "Monday Night at The National" includes free performances every Monday evening throughout the year. This spring, the focus will be on dance! We are very excited about this opportunity. Shows will take place at 6:00 and 7:30 pm. Seating is limited. Tickets are required, and are distributed one half-hour prior to performance, on a first-come-first-served policy. 10.21.09: EDC Awarded Grant
EDC was recently awarded a Community Arts Development grant from the Frederick Arts Council. Grant money will go towards yearly operating expenses, as well as the production of our annual Spring Performance.

8.3.09: Equinox Announces New Cast
On Sunday August 1st, Equinox Dance Company held auditions for the 2009-2010 season. We would like to thank everyone who came out to the Saturday modern class and the audition process on Sunday. Congratulations to the following new dancers: Madeleine Benda, Lisa Gillespie, Danielle Horochowski and Amy Scaringe. Returning dancers include Emily Bonham Owen, Pat Burns, Kady Davis, Chrissa Dockendorf, Kimberly Dow, Lee Ek, Jessica Fitzwater, Aileen Geraghty, Stephanie Peters, Rebecca Rolnick and Jen Smith. 6.29.09: Equinox Welcomes New Artistic Director
EDC welcomes new artistic director, Andrea Ligon for our 2009-2010 season! Andrea Ligon earned an A.A. in Dance from Montgomery College and her B.A. in English from the University of Maryland. She has studied ballet, modern, tap, jazz, African and other techniques for 24 years. Ligon has choreographed for the Montgomery College Dance Company, and the student showcases at ADF and at Joy of Motion, DC. She recently choreographed the musical A Year with Frog and Toad at Montgomery College and has also choreographed the shows Kiss me Kate and Anthems. Her work has been seen on stage in Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina and Washington D.C.  Ligon performed in the Montgomery College Dance Company for many semesters and in the musicals: Brigadoon and Pippin among others.  Currently she is performing for Jane Franklin Dance in Arlington, VA.
